MARSHFIELD, Wis. (June 4, 2018) – This season’s Round Two for the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series Powered by Wisconsin Potatoes will have a very special overtone as TUNDRA, the Midwest Truck Series, and the Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series pay homage to Bev Aschenbrenner at Marshfield Motor Speedway this Saturday.

“When we began talking about this event late last season, we were certain we wanted to be involved,” said TUNDRA representative Matt Panure. “We knew Bev as a devoted fan who often was seen at our events. She and her family have always been popular among race teams, and we’re honored to be part of this event in her memory.”

Bev’s son Brandon helped coordinate this event along with Marshfield Motor Speedway promoter Wayne Brevik and sponsors River View Construction and A&A Lock Service. Brandon works as the track announcer at Marshfield (as well as State Park Speedway and Golden Sands Speedway). In the lead up to the event, Brandon had a few words to say about his mother and the formation of this memorial race.

Our Mother was an avid race fan who always loved watching racing, especially at Marshfield Motor Speedway, and did anything possible to make the drivers and fans and everyone welcome and to continue to help the sport grow. She specifically enjoyed going to the races with our Dad, Bob Aschenbrenner, whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage with just a month before the incident that took her life. She passed away on June 6, 2016, just 4 days before she was to celebrate her 70th birthday. They won Family of the Year at Marshfield Motor Speedway on 2 different years. This is the 2nd event in her honor. In 2017 the ARCA Midwest Tour, Mid-American Stock Car Series and Central Wisconsin Steel Frame Challenge Series were all in action.

Those that knew her always spoke extremely fondly of her and there was no one who ever could say a bad thing. She also always made the absolute best Butter Scotch Cheesecake Bars in the whole entire world. She was also a member and active helper with the WCAR (Women Concerned for Auto Racing) group that helps make sure the kids have some activities at the track and also run the popular Race with the Winner promotion. All in all, Bev was one of the very best and we hope this racing event in her honor will help keep the memories that we all hold dear about her going.

The Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial Presented by River View Construction and A&A Lock Service will also feature the TUNDRA Sportsman Tour, Midwest Truck Series and Upper Midwest Vintage Series. Fan gates open at 1 p.m., Qualifying is at 2:30 p.m. and Racing begins at 4 p.m. Adult admission (ages 15+) is $15, Students 9-14 are $10, and Kids 8 and under receive free admission.
